Kwekwe Poly’s Trio calls it a day

Yesterday the 30th of January 2025 Kwekwe Polytechnic hosted a luncheon for its 3 members of staff who recently retired. Mr Chinguwa, Mr Chibvamushure and Mr Hover, being escorted by their family members were joined by the rest of the members of staff at a heart-warming event which took place at the Dining Hall.

Mr Elliot Chinguwa was appointed into the Public Service on the 11th of March 1982. For many years, he loyally served as a Stores Assistant. Due to his dedication to duty, Mr Chinguwa was then elevated to the position of Electrical Artisan on the 1st of November 2005. He is a holder of the Prestigious Class 1 Journeyman Card. He officially retired on the 12th of December 2024 after serving for over 42 years. In fact, Mr Chinguwa is one of the few men around who saw the foundations of Kwekwe Polytechnic during its construction era.

Mr David Chibvamushure joined Kwekwe Polytechnic in 1996 as a Lecturer in the Mechanical Department. During his tenure, he rose through various ranks. From 2010 to 2016, he was appointed the OJET Coordinator for Mechanical and Applied Sciences. From 2017 to 2019, he served as the LIC for Machine shop. From January 2020 up until his last day at work on the 15th of February 2024 he held the highly esteemed office of Head of Department Mechanical. Mr Chibvamushure diligently served Kwekwe Polytechnic for over 28 years.

Mr Hove joined the Public Service on the 1st of January 1984 as a Teacher. He was to assume duty at Kwekwe Polytechnic on the 24th of October 2005 as a Lecturer in the NASS Division. Mr Hove was one of the dedicated men who worked so hard during the establishment of the National Strategic Studies as a Subject, a subject which also seeks to stir a sense of patriotism and civic responsibility amongst our students. Mr Hove officially retired on the 12th of November 2024 after serving for about 20 years at Kwekwe Polytechnic and after a total of 40 years in the Public Service.

Speaker after speaker gave emotional testimonies which almost left some in tears.

The Principal, Mr Musara presented to them tokens of appreciation, after which, it was time to have lunch. We wish them well.
