Gender,Inclusivity &Wellness

The institution recognizes the need to foster gender balance and inclusivity, improving access to facilities and services to all students especially to the disadvantaged and at times vulnerable members of the student body such the girl child, and students with disability. To this end the institution has appointed a Gender, Wellness and Inclusivity Chairperson,Committee and Sub-committees. They also work to identify students who are at risk of discontinuing their studies because of financial challenges and seek ways and means through which they can be assisted. This is in response to His Excellency’s call to leave no place and no one behind

Terms of Reference

1. Need to foster gender equality and inclusivity by ensuring:
i. Promotion of gender equality at all levels, activity and appointments.
ii. Coming up with appropriate policies and programmes to achieve the above intention.
iii. Addressing systematic and structural barriers to gender equality and inclusivity
2. Need for a holistic wellness and well-being of staff and students:
i. Come up with well-designed implementation plan for holistic wellness strategies.
ii. Come up with initiatives to cover all wellness aspects of or about mental, physical, spiritual environment, financial as well as social for both staff and students.
iii. Come up with a well-designed implementation plan for a holistic wellness strategies.
iv. Come up with initiatives to cover wellness aspects of/about mental, emotional, physical, spiritual environmental, financial as well as social for both staff and students.
v. Coming up with action plans and implementation strategies to eliminate cases of drug and substance abuse at Kwekwe Polytechnic in both staff and students.

Deliverables Expected

Institutional gender, inclusive and wellness related policies, strategies, protocol, and standard operating procedures.

Monitoring trends in achieving of gender equality, inclusivity and holistic wellness of staff and students

Lobbying and advocating programmes for promotion and awareness of gender, inclusivity issues as well as gender sensitive, inclusive and safe working and learning environment e.g awareness campaigns on drug and substance abuse as well as sexual harassment including importance of wellness to both staff and students.

Profiling of needs and factors leading to Gender inequality and exclusion as well as the wellness needs of staff and students and ways to mitigate against them. This includes identifying and addressing systemic barriers and discrimination, as as well as implementing stratergies to promote diversity.

Engineering students did a practical assignment in NASS. They moved doing an awareness campaign in different departments on campus.
