Kwekwe Polytechnic is celebrating forty years of exhistence. They say life begins at forty.Whilst to an extent this can be deemed to be true, there is no doubt that we have withstood the test of time hence we are now a trusted brand. The evidence on the ground and beyond speaks for itself. Albeit a multitude of challenges ranging from sanctions, climate change, hyper inflationary economic situation and many more, we have success stories to report. Ladies and gentlemen, we are in a unique era in which all our operations are being guided by a number of blue-prints chief amongst them our 5 year Strategic Plan Document. The Kwekwe Polytechnic’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan is a promise to deliver a competitive industrialised and modernised Zimbabwe through teaching, research, community service, innovation and industrialisation. Our heritage based philosophy shall be applied on the local environment for purpose of producing relevant goods and services. The Government of Zimbabwe had developed the Transitional Stabilization Programme (TSP) to guide the reform process during the period 2018 to 2020. Although we faced some challenges along the way, significant progress was made in the implementation of the TSP across its various pillars. The next steps towards attaining the objectives of Vision 2030 will be guided by the interventions that the Second Republic is going to undertake through the National Development Strategy 1: 2021-2025 (NDS1), as we march towards achieving an upper middle-income society by 2030. The NDS1 is our first 5-year Medium Term Plan aimed at realizing the country’s Vision 2030, while simultaneously addressing the global aspirations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa Agenda 2063. As a training institution, our priority falls under Human Capital Development. Human Capital Development and Innovation remains the engine to drive the NDS1 and the country’s prospects towards Vision 2030. Human Capital Development and Innovation creates a knowledge driven economy for sustained growth, industrialisation and modernization of Zimbabwe. The strategic plan is meant to ensure that Kwekwe Polytechnic goes beyond the information given for the betterment of Kwekwe community and Zimbabwe at large. Thus our vision 2030 of becoming an upper middle income economy shall be possible through production of goods and services. This also dovetails with the Doctrine of Education 5.0 which is hinged upon 5 pillars namely; teaching, research, community service, innovation and industrialisation. If the notion that “Life begins at 40” is anything to go by, then you can look forward to a rejuvenated growth of the institution as land has already been secured for an incubation hub. As for the rest, keep watching this space as events will unfold with time.
