Kwekwe Polytechnic Students' Council: A Year in Review
SRC Elections
The year kicked off with the highly anticipated on-campus elections, held from March 03 2024.
Students eagerly cast their votes for the new Students' Representative Council (SRC) members. The elections were characterized by
vibrant campaigns, heated debates and a strong sense of student solidarity.
The results were as follows:
- -The President Jowa John
- -Vice President Mashava Owen
- -Secretary Guvamombe Beatrice
- -Treasurer Mafuta Vimbai
SRC Induction Training
Following the elections, the newly elected SRC members underwent an intensive induction training from 15-19 June. The training equipped them with essential leadership skills, governance, and communication strategies.
Munhumutapa day in Masvingo.
In September , students embarked on an educational trip to Masvingo. Which was organised by the ministry of youth, exploring the historic Great Zimbabwe ruins and gaining insights into Zimbabwe's rich cultural heritage. On this very same day we were celebrting our Munhumutapa day
Furniture retrival
The SRC in conjuction with the willing students patrolled around the Msasa area collecting furniture that had been taken to house holds by students causing shortage on campus .This has been an on going problem for the past years . We are Glad to have left in place precautionary measures that govern this problem
Education 5.0: Minister's Visit
On June 25, Kwekwe Polytechnic hosted the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, who graced the institution's Education 5.0 workshop. This pivotal event highlighted the institution's commitment to innovation and industrialization.

Gender wellness and Disability inclusion
On this day the SRC proudly hosted an event we would like to call the event of the year. With the aid of college facilities we Marched in town spreading awareness with aid of the Police and other NGOs . Afer march in the morning we went back at campass where we hosted departmental games which include soccer, basket ball, volleyball and netball, as an on going awareness. We concluded the day by a music show which included various artist.
Conclusion
This year has been a transformative journey for Kwekwe Polytechnic's student community. From democratic elections to enriching educational trips and groundbreaking workshops, the SRC has played a pivotal role in shaping students' experiences. As we look forward to the upcoming year, we anticipate
even more exciting initiatives and achievements.
